D\u00fcnya\u2019n\u0131n merkezinden \u0130skenderiye ve Aswan kentlerini g\u00f6ren a\u00e7\u0131 360 derecenin 50\u2019de biri oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in iki kent aras\u0131ndaki uzakl\u0131k 50 ile \u00e7arp\u0131l\u0131rsa, Eratosthenes\u2019in \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcm\u00fcne g\u00f6re D\u00fcnya\u2019n\u0131n \u00e7evresi 900×50 yani 45.000 kilometre \u00e7\u0131kar. D\u00fcnya\u2019n\u0131n \u00e7evresi ekvatorda 40.075, kutuplarda 40.008 kilometredir. Eratosthenes\u2019in yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcm stadia birimine g\u00f6reydi. Atina\u2019da kullan\u0131lan stadia, M\u0131s\u0131r\u2019dakinden k\u0131sayd\u0131. Eratosthenes M\u0131s\u0131r yerine Atina\u2019n\u0131n uzunluk birimini kullanm\u0131\u015f ise D\u00fcnya\u2019n\u0131n \u00e7evresi 40 bin kilometre \u00e7\u0131kar.
